Vierdaagse

As I have mentioned previously, this week is the Vierdaagse, or Four Days March. Basically 40,000 people walk up to 50 kilometres a day for four days in a row and everyone has a huge party. The walking actually started yesterday, and there was a big fireworks show. It started at 11:00, because it doesn’t really get dark enough until then, and went for half an hour or so. It was very good.

Today we saw some of the walkers, since they walked by our site. They started to walk by at about 10:30 and were still going when we left at 4:15. It was really cool to see all the people from different countries, some holding flags. Most of the people from outside the Netherlands were from Germany, England, and Scandinavia, but we saw a few people from Israel, someone from Japan, one American, and quite a few Canadians. There were people of all ages walking. I think I would like to do it some day.

Things are going pretty well at work; we only have one day left. It will be nice to be done and go to Utrecht where we can relax.
